Handbells - The Timbrell Ringers
Rehearses Wednesdays 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. in the bell room. Performs once a month for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Prepares special concerts and participates in handbell Festivals. For adults with prior handbell ringing experience.
Intergenerational Bells
Rehearses Sundays 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the bell room. This will include our youth, beginner adult ringers, and other ringers that would love to share music with our younger members. We will play in church monthly, either the 8:15 a.m. or the 10:30 a.m. service. I would love to involve some new ringers with this choir, music reading not necessary-we'll teach you what you need to know!
The Junior Bells
(Grades 2 - 6)
Rehearses Sundays 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. Kids these ages are very interested in bells and get a chance to have fun with the bells and chimes. Music reading is not necessary for this choir.
The Cherub Bells
(Ages 4 - 1st Grade)
Rehearses Sundays 3:30 - 4:00 p.m. Rings occasionally for the 10:30 a.m. worship service and participates in handbell concerts. Music reading ability is not required.
     We have some wonderful handbells that were donated that are perfect for the younger ages.  I had a great time teaching kids at CWP to play bells this past year and would love to introduce them to the church program.  They learn to play bells through colors and letters, ideal for this age.  Please let me know if you would like your child to be involved with this choir.

Vocal - The Sanctuary Choir
(Adults)
Rehearses Thursdays 7:30 - 9:15 p.m. in the choir room. Sings each Sunday for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Sanctuary Choir also performs large choral masterworks (accompanied by orchestra or brass ensemble) during the Advent and Easter seasons. Music-reading ability preferred; no audition required. Variety of sacred repertoire (Classical to contemporary). Directed by Dr. Linda Monson, accompanied by Allan Weberg.
The Youth Choir
(Grades 7 - 12)
Rehearses Sundays 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the choir room. The Youth Choir sings approximately once per month for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. Sometimes the Youth Choir joins with the Sanctuary Choir for large choral masterworks. Directed and accompanied by Dr. Linda Monson.
The Junior Choir
(Grades 2 - 6)
Rehearses Sundays 4:00-5:00 p.m. in the choir room. Sings once per month for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Junior Choir along with the Cherub Choir also prepares an annual musical/cantata. Directed by Dr. Linda Monson, assisted by Ann Lee.
The Cherub Choir
(age 4 - grade 1)
Rehearses Sundays 3:45-4:15 p.m. in the choir room. Sings occasionally for the 10:30 a.m. worship service. The Cherub Choir along with the Junior Choir also prepares an annual musical/cantata. Directed by Dr. Linda Monson, assisted by Ann Lee.

Amigos de Cristo
The Amigos de Cristo play at the 8:15 a.m. worship service. They rehearse during the week and welcome guitarists, vocalists and percussionists. Call if you would like to sing and/or play, 703-451-2375.
DID YOU KNOW.the largest bell ever cast weighed over 200 tons? Named Czar Kolokol (King of Bells), this "King Dong" is located in Moscow and has never rung, having been damaged during its finishing process. With an interior 22 feet in diameter and 19 feet high, the bell was turned into a chapel seating forty worshippers. SUMC also uses its bells to enhance worship and each of the church's four ringing choirs needs new ringers. Rehearsals will begin in September.  There is room in The Junior Handbell Choir, The Youth Handbell Ensemble, The Wellspring Ringers and The Timbrel Ringers for those wanting to be part of this music ministry. Prior to attending his/her first rehearsal, handbell director Mindy Riffer will be happy to provide tutoring to anyone interested in joining a ringing choir. Talk with Mindy at church.
